50 Ranked Games In August: Day Six (22/50)
I didn't get to play any LoL over the weekend as I had family visiting, but Monday - Wednesday I managed to play 14 games. Mood: Optimistic Tiredness: Low Determination: Pumped TLDR: I played a bunch of games and discovered things about my mental I was unaware of. I overall did well and promoted from G2 to G1 (via demoting several times to G3 I might add), currently with a 52% win rate. There are questions below, and more in-depth reflections underneath. There's no need to respond to the reflections, but this is part of how I'm going to keep myself accountable. That said, I welcome feedback/comment. Question 1: Does anyone have any tips for staying focused/using mindfulness in game? I've found my lack of impulse control can lead me to forget the coaching objectives I'm trying to focus on, but LoL is such a moment-to-moment game I rarely find the space to breathe and focus. Question 2: How much do you experiment with your builds in ranked? I have a few ideas I'd like to try but have mostly played the 'standard' builds as per Mobalytics or a variation of my old-school build (I used to love tank Fiddle and have had decent success even recently). But I want to try an build that is a little off the wall (specific support items, not anything truly crazy like crit or lethality). I'm worried I'm already likely to tilt my ADC just by playing Fiddle (and have already had 2 people int/afk because they didn't like my pick). Should I do that in Normals instead? Or just stick with the current builds? Thanks for your help, reflections below! ______ I had my introduction to Rey today, which was a great way to set out his expectations of me and give me a couple of pointers to work with before we start assessing my play. I didn't think I'd be so nervous! But I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the programme. Also, one bit of feedback from the VOD review in the group coaching was to take the easy kills. I consciously did this twice successfully and tried a further 3 times unsuccessfully when my ADC/Jungler got greedy and wanted the difficult double rather than the easy single kill.
