This is excellent news! We are actively minimizing the usage of Dataflow Gen 2 artifacts in our environment due to existing limitations that impact our CI/CD processes. While we can leverage Notebooks in many cases, itโ€™s essential to recognize that citizen developers overwhelmingly prefer low- or no-code tools like Dataflow Gen 2 within Fabric. I hope it becomes available for us soon. Thank you for sharing!
Fabric REST API now supports Service Principals ๐Ÿ‘€
This is a pretty big one. No official announcement yet, perhaps they will announce formally at next week's conference... But if you take a look at some of the REST API endpoint documentation (e.g. this Create Lakehouse endpoint), you will notice a small, but impactful change (see image). You will see that you can now create items from a Service Principal account (which was previously not supported). What does this mean, you might be asking? Well, traditionally, when you create things like a Lakehouse in Fabric, you become the owner. A Service Principal (which can be created and managed in Azure Entra ID) is a generic user account, that can be now used to create these items. This makes it easier to automate creation of new items at different stages in a CI/CD pipeline. And means the 'Owner' is the Service Principal, not an individual. Is this something that you've been waiting for? Let me know how you'll be using it below ๐Ÿ‘‡

That's excellent news. We recently faced an issue with Lakehouse ownership when a data engineer departed from the company, which resulted in the team being unable to access the SQL analytics endpoint tables he had created. However, the Delta tables remain accessible. We are now proceeding to create a majority of Fabric artifacts using a service principal account.

There are some good updates! I recently created a new Lakehouse through Fabric Notebook using the REST API. Additionally, the service principal credentials were secured with an Azure key vault. However, the REST API for Warehouse still does not support the Entra ID service principal. As a temporary solution, a service user account can be used for Warehouse creation until Microsoft adds support for service principals. Sorry for the misspelling!
Last chance to get discounted access to Fabric Dojo
Fabric Dojo is a new paid community I launched last week. In short, Fabric Dojo is a learning community to help you master Fabric Analytics Engineering, through hands-on exercises, mini-projects, plus constant support through live coaching calls and a supportive community. We've been open for one week now, and it's buzzing in there now, with 65 members already and growing every day! In 24 hours, the super early-bird price for Fabric Dojo membership (just $19/m) will be gone. This is the lowest cost it will ever be again, so if you're thinking about it, I recommend doing it quickly! And you can prepay for 12 months and get an even more discounted rate. If you want to learn more, I made a module here in the Classroom to tell you more about it. - About Fabric Dojo - Intro to Fabric Dojo Webinar - DP002 ๐ŸŸข IoT project [Sample Project] - Feedback from students And if you're thinking "ah man, I would love to, but can't afford it at the moment" - I'm introducing two new ways to earn free membership passes for Fabric Dojo: - Each month here in the Learn Microsoft Fabric (free) community, the top three members on the Leaderboard will receive a free one-month pass into the Fabric Dojo. - If you reach Level 7 here in the Learn Microsoft Fabric (free) community, you will get a 3-month free pass for Fabric Dojo. You can learn a lot in three months! See your current level here. Still not sure how to earn points, read this, but simply you should provide high-value posts in the community, help others, and you will get likes, and likes==points.

I just tested the pipeline copy activity between two workspaces, and it worked well. My setup includes 2 Lakehouses and the Pipeline in three separate workspaces. It's still in preview but works fine with F SKU in US North Central. I have a DP-600 exam in three days, and I am not sure if Microsoft updated the answers for the cross-workspace pipeline feature.

@Will Needham Thank you very much for the advice!
A note on help with DP-600 Practice Questions
Hi all, it's great to see so many of you working through practice questions for the DP-600. I'd like to make a few general points though: - please don't just copy and paste questions and expect the community to give you an answer - this is not helpful for your learning, or for the community really. - instead, re-create the problem within Fabric, most questions are fairly easy and quick to replicate within Fabric, and you will understand the problem and the solution far better, - in a small number of cases where it is hard to replicate a question in your own environment, study the documentation on MS Learn or use other resources to find the answer to your problem, - if none of these avenues help you answer a question, then by all means share your problem with the community, detailing the steps you have already taken to solve the problem, and where are you stuck. Also, please do not post questions from exam dumps - these are against Microsoft Exam policy and against the spirit of the exam. Many thanks, and good luck in your preparation.
