Dividend funds give you a little bit more protection because you have many stocks in the fund. Lower or slower sways in value because you are more diversifid in the fund.

So, I'm not an expert but some stocks and markets drop in value on Monday morning. This is a general thing and not guaranteed to hapen every weekend. People freak out over the weekend because they can't see if their stocks are growing. So, they make sales on Monday. If the market can be swayed by a weekend then maybe in the short-term you sell on Friday mornings and buy on Monday afternoon.

Naturally, the market increase on average about 12% per year over time. Some years it's lower and some years its higher. If you have dividend stocks or funds then it will grow every year because you can automatically reinvest the dividends. This is simple and basic. Maybe good for everyone.
