Proper Hydration
Reminder: most of us don't even realize it, but we are walking around dehydrated much of the time. This is why I put hydration on the list of non-negotiables (you did see that course, right?). Here's an article from UC Davis on why hydration is important. https://health.ucdavis.edu/blog/good-food/why-its-important-for-you-to-drink-water-and-stay-hydrated/2022/07 On workout days, I will commonly take a very small dose of iodized table salt with my morning water just to make sure I get some electrolytes in the morning. This may not be appropriate for everyone, but I encourage us all to at least monitor how much water we drink in a day. How can you tell if you are hydrated enough? Simple: Producing clear urine is a good indication that you're well-hydrated. What do you all think of your current hydration level in a typical day?

I got in the practice of carrying a water bottle with me everywhere in Arizona. That practice has not stopped. I like the nalgene bottles because I can dishwash them, and when traveling, I can use the tea pots to boil water and sanitize them.

@Nicolas Gerolami Great to know there's other former home-brewers out there too! I donated all my gear when we moved to Oregon 2 years ago, but brewed for 10+ years and somehow got voluntold to teach the "How to Brew" class at the local Prickly Pear festival for several years. I do recommend a Prickly Pear Saison if you can find it. Prost!

@Cory Berg As part of our educational journeys, we visited Madagascar in 2018 as a "Last Chance to See" opportunity for the vanishing wildlife. We had told our travel coordinator that we'd like to do a day of volunteer work while we were there. She happened to also be one of the leaders at the Ankisy Gazy school. We spent the day touring the campus briefly and then spend the whole afternoon with the younger students and I ended up being the "artist in residence" to draw their favorite animals as a coloring activity. We stayed in touch with our coordinator and sponsored some of the older students in their post-secondary education. After we received our TEFL certifications, we started volunteering once a week to do additional ESL tutoring. I've been working with the same student now for almost 2 years. It's not nearly enough, but I'm able to help with grammar concepts and help with conversation practice. There's a ton of need for good tutors worldwide, and I wish I had more time to help.
