Community Challenge: Long-Distance Recall!
Are you ready to put your training to the test and strengthen your dogā€™s recall skills? This weekā€™s Community Challenge focuses on long-distance recallā€”a vital skill for safety and obedience that also deepens the bond between you and your dog. How It Works The goal is simple: see how far you can step away from your dog and successfully recall them! By following the steps in the Recall Module, youā€™ll build a reliable recall at increasing distances. Hereā€™s how to participate: 1. Start Small 2. Gradually Increase Distance 3. Share Your Progress Inspiration Iā€™ll kick things off by posting a video of my dog successfully recalling from a long distance after a sit command. Watch, get inspired, and challenge yourself to see how far you can go! Why Participate? - Improve your dogā€™s recall under real-world conditions. - Celebrate small wins and gradual progress. - Get feedback and encouragement from the community. - Pro Tip for Success Make sure to practice in a distraction-free environment at first. Once your dog is consistent, gradually add distractions to simulate real-life situations. Letā€™s see who can set the record for the longest recall! Remember, itā€™s not a competitionā€”itā€™s about building skills and having fun with your dog. šŸ¾ Post your videos, ask questions, and share your experiences in the challenge thread. Letā€™s support each other on this journey! Ready, set, recall! šŸš€

Week 2
Yesterday we did our walk around the neighborhood fully offleash! I didnt even bother bringing it. Miras doing such a good job! I also am starting to make more videos that will eventually go on youtube (clip from one of them below) As a long term project, I've also just started building my paid course, tentatively called "the canine relationship transformation" this will be a culmination of everything I've learned in a decade of professional dog experience all boiled down into a 3 month course.

Hi there!
My names Gabe, my dog mirabelle is a 5 yr old lab mix. She is the reason I started pursuing dog training. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life but now I'm taking it one step further and making it my mission to help every dog owner I can. My training goal is to make mira so reliable, that I can take her anywhere and never be worried about her reacting, or leaving my side. Lately I've been taking her into stores and testing her commands to make sure she can maintain them even around the scariest of distractions.

Hello
Hi my name is Sonja and Daisy is my 3 year old Pitbull/Huskey/Wolf mix. She is my companion animal and my fur baby. My goals are for Daisy to get her to not jump on everyone she meets or walks through the door. I would also love it for her to be trusted off leash st any given time and stay by my side.

Short & Consistent Training Sessions
Hey everyone! šŸ‘‹ Hereā€™s a quick tip to help you build a strong connection with your dog: focus on 1 or 2 short training sessions every dayā€”just 5-15 minutes at a time. Consistency is the key to success! For example: If you spend a week practicing the "Come" command for 10 minutes each day, youā€™ll soon be able to say "Come" anytime you need your dog to come to youā€”whether theyā€™re across the yard or just a few steps away. 1ļøāƒ£ Repetition builds understanding: Dogs learn through consistent practice. Daily sessions reinforce the behavior and make it second nature. 2ļøāƒ£ Apply training to real-life situations: Once your dog reliably responds during practice, start using the commands throughout your day. Need them to come inside? Say "Come." Want them to stay in a spot while you answer the door? Use "Place." 3ļøāƒ£ Strengthen communication: Every time you reinforce a command, youā€™re creating a more clear line of communication with your dog. Theyā€™ll understand what you want and feel confident responding. šŸŒŸ Pro Tip: Keep sessions fun and end on a high note! If your dog nails a command, celebrate with treats, praise, or playtime. Start small, stay consistent, and watch how quickly your dog responds. Let me know how your training is goingā€”Iā€™d love to hear your progress! šŸ¾

@Jeanie Thomas training 3 dogs is hard. If you can separate them, and teach them the place command one at a time, it will be easier to hold them to the expectations you set. Start with very short durations, like 1-3 seconds, and build from there. Hope this helps!
