Urban sketchers will be meeting up at Temple Newsam this Saturday (26th October). Organised by Urban Sketchers Yorkshire (which is a chapter of the international Urban Sketchers network) this event is free and everyone is welcome to join in! While entry fees do apply for access to the Tudor Jacobean Temple Newsam House itself and to the Farm, there are plenty of other subjects to fill a great day sketching for free at this location including the exterior of the house, the formal gardens, the extensive park, the courtyard and the amphitheatre. There’s a cafe on site or bring sandwiches. Meet in the amphitheatre next to the courtyard at 10am. Hi everyone, Well, as the title suggests, I'm new here. Went to a great sketching social in Leeds a couple of months ago and am now joining this online community in search of more sketch-related adventures. Sketching is great but you know how it is when life gets busy, I just don't always make enough time for it. So NO PRESSURE new sketching buddies but I am holding you entirely responsible for dragging me and my sketchbooks out on a regular basis. Oh and casually inspiring me to create masterpieces too, of course. I'm a returner to sketching after many years where I sort of forgot how much I liked it. As a teenager, I went to loads of life drawing classes, always armed with my trusty charcoal. For some reason, getting back into it now, I'm all about drawing buildings in pen. Watercolour is piquing my interest too but I haven't got a clue how to make it work well. So there you go. There's your starter for ten. Look forward to sketching with you soon. Fran
