Just got off the phone w/ a friend who is a coach at Georgia. We were talking about recruiting philosophies of kickers, and players in general: "You know, it's a lot easier to develop and sell a kid with a leg like a sawed off shot gun with a ton of power than it is to make a consistent leg more powerful." It's a reflection of the timeless adage of recruiting that you recruit for power, train for accuracy. Sure, there is a time and place for great game tape, but everyone likes a big leg, and a big ball. These things are always going to be timeless and things that move the needle on recruiting.

Helpful Brendan, thanks for sharing. Interestingly, Georgia went 21/25 on FGs last year and only attempted 1 over 50 yds. Their money was made between 30 and 49 going 18/19. Amazingly they attempted 105 KOs with 68 touchbacks (~64% rate).
