Hello, everyone
So I read this research paper the other day, about deploying Augmented Reality into language teaching, can this be a thing? If so how can we promote self-discipline while also keeping the classroom ludified and fun for our learners ๐Ÿค”

Can this be a thing? Of course. So many things have become a thing in ELT. Self-discipline is not something that can be promoted. Self-discipline is something that requires accountability towards goals. How to implement that in the classroom? Good question! It all starts with mindset.
Keep it Simple, Stupid.
Keep it simple, stupid. That's a mantra first noted by the U.S. Navy in 1960. The "Keep It Simple, Stupid" (KISS) principle is a straightforward design rule that emphasizes simplicity. For teachers stepping into the entrepreneurial world, this principle can be incredibly powerful. When creating your teaching offers, simplicity should be your guide. So instead of trying to craft multiple complex packages, focus on developing one clear, easy-to-understand offer. Why? Because this approach not only makes it easier for you to manage and perfect but also makes it simpler for potential clients/students to grasp and appreciate the value you're providing. Why Simple Works: 1๏ธโƒฃ Clarity: A single offer eliminates confusion and helps students clearly see what they're getting and how it benefits them. 2๏ธโƒฃ Quality: With just one primary focus, you can channel your efforts into enhancing the quality of that offering. 3๏ธโƒฃ Marketing: A simple offer is easier to communicate and promote, which makes your marketing efforts more straightforward and effective. By applying the KISS principle, you set the stage for a teaching business that's focused, manageable, and appealing to your audience. Here's a takeaway for you, teacher. Consider what your one key offer could be. โ†’ Whatโ€™s the core transformation or benefit you provide? Build around that, and keep everything else minimal. This focus will not only streamline your teaching business operations but also attract students who are the best fit for your teaching style. Hope this helps.

Thoughtful Tuesday: Reflect and Ask Yourself
Hi teachers, I would like to share a framework to help you gain clarity in your teaching business. โ–ถ๏ธ TWO THINGS FOR YOU TO THINK ABOUT 1 Most people tell themselves that if they felt better, theyโ€™d do the thingโ€”when itโ€™s actually doing the thing that makes you feel better. 2 At some point, you realize that the permission youโ€™ve been waiting for all along was your own. โ–ถ๏ธ TWO THINGS FOR YOU TO ASK YOURSELF 1) What have you wasted time waiting for โ€œthe rightโ€ time before doing? 2) What have you excused or neglected in your own life for no other reason than you felt undeserving of it? โ–ถ๏ธŽ Feel free to use these as journal prompts. โ–ถ๏ธ ONE THING FOR YOU TO TRY THIS WEEK Give yourself permission. F*ck it. Itโ€™s your life. Go live it. Then let us know how it goes.

For me, it was able to talk to a group of teachers about precarity in language education. It's the elephant in the room that no one talks about. Essentially, when you're teaching for a school/uni/college/academy/platform, they are the ones taking on the risk and holding the accountability, the intellectual property, and the brand. They're not going to pay you what you're worth. They'll pay you the minimum amount necessary to keep you doing your job. This minimum might be relatively high, but it won't provide true financial security where you can comfortably retire while still having an income. To achieve true wealth (note my choice of words) and stability, it's crucial for teachers to develop their own teaching business and become more resourceful. By taking control of your career, you can set your own rates, create valuable educational content, and build a brand that reflects your expertise and passion. But I warned them that this entrepreneurial approach is not an easy one and there's no magic bullet - you have to do the work. The positive side of it is that it enhances your financial independence while allowing you to make a more significant impact on your students and the educational community.
Hello beautiful people!๐Ÿ‘‹
It's Bouchra, I have been teaching English for more than one and a half years now, I joined the TSN community because I believe it's a growing comm that answers every possible question a teacher would ask. My vision for the next 30 days is to establish a strong base where I identify the right niche and right methods to put into service. I reckon that TSN is here to help me and other teachers decode the modern art of being a teacher. As I work on the lacks I am dealing with, share my experience with you and learn from you. I'm excited to connect!! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐ŸŽ‰

@Bouchra Benkhalifa Seems like you have the right audience there. Make sure to provide them with a clear transformation. That will be part of your offer.
