I think there's a few elements that make this more attention grabbing than most other videos, and it comes down to the execution of everything. For starters, the font used in the subtitles felt fun and enthusiastic; the way he used different colors and positions of the subtitles for the different voices played a key element in getting your eyes moving around instead of looking in the same spot. Not only that but the precision in the timing for the subtitles; not a millisecond too soon or too late from transitioning from one word to the next. Secondly, the balance between cutting between scenes and zooming in on the same scene allowed it to constantly captivate the viewer by not allowing their attention span to feel like they understand the situation. The viewer doesn't get the time to try and guess what will happen next because it zooms in on the one character, and whilst they are mid thought about what this cop character may do; it pans off to the side where there's the new character entering the scene, making your brain think "well what's this guys deal?" Which leads me into my third point; the perfect execution of backstory. Right when your brain thinks "oh who's this character coming from the side", it plays an entrancing bell sound which acts as the transition to a past "memory". In this sequence I would personally have added some form of Vignette effect to clearly differentiate the past and the present.

I've played a lot of story games, but the one that always stuck out the most to me has to be The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The storyline, the atmosphere, the freedom of choice, and the ability to get a feel for what it could have been like if the world was conquered by Magic and Dragons.
