At the TIA conference this week I had about a dozen or so people I didn’t know come up to me and say I know you…your PapaFreight. After years of posting content on Social Media the personal brand #PapaFreight seems to be working. The problem is more than half these people didn’t know what company I worked for. They identified me with First Mile Crating and Packing, Final Mile White Glove Services, Government Contract work This Freightgroup on Skool and even my backyard! lol but many asked me what company I worked for? It’s actually a tough question to answer when you own multiple companies in the logistics space that provide different services. I think marketing professionals would say that my personal message is too convoluted to create a strong business brand, that would seem to be the case after 3 days of being approached at the conference. Does anyone really differentiate between personal branding and business branding anymore anyway? Would you view this as a problem? I think the real Test from a personal branding perspective would be: Would people do business with me without regard to the company or organization I represent? If this is the case than personal branding can be seen as more powerful than a good business brand wouldn’t you think? #PapaFreight
