Congrats to CS
I agree, leave them.
The past few weeks I've seen quite a few articles saying the same thing just like this one. And I have to agree and here's why. There's something special about leaves when they break down. They have something called leaf mold which is quite beneficial for the soil and a great food source for fungi. We like adding leaves to our compost pile but if you can add them directly into your soil they will feed the microbes and it's less work then composting them. Drop a comment below and let me know how you deal with your leaves? https://www.wtvr.com/life/give-the-rake-a-break-experts-say-leaving-your-leaves-has-more-benefits-for-your-yard

Agreed. However, how do you deal with the compaction of the soil if the leaves are overwhelming. I had this problem any time I left the leaves over winter. I wound up with a slimy mess of compacted leaves and harder soil. I felt my only solution (20+ years ago) was to compost them after shredding them to prevent the 1 inch layer of flat slimy leaves on my already clay soil.
Thought this was funny!

I've been growing things for over 30 years but never had much soil improvement, small harvests and not great improvement in growing crops.
