I've been with pro tools since about 2006 (PT LE 6.4), only jumped ship once with a weekend fling of STUDIO ONE but PreSonus DAW didn't map to my Avid mix console so I dumped it and stick with PT. Only reason I stuck with PT is due to most of the big studios in the day were using it as a de-facto industry standard and it just made sense not to deviate from that but now there are lots of choices that all seem to offer something for everyone.
Thank you for Waves One Knob Driver plugin
Hi, I have been off the boards for awhile working on some incredibly cool things in music land but noticed a chance to get a waves plugin. plugins are fun lol - thank you for your generosity and I really do love this community and glad to see some new programs suited for those with budget limitations. VIP for Intro to Mastering finally up, yay...
OMG, lol was watching almost everyday like a psychopath waiting for this thing to be posted... lol I felt so bad I wasn't able to join in the first hour and only could stay for a few minutes whilst it was live. Now I can go back and see how Jake approached the drum tracks, that is my biggest obstacle, getting drums to sound great then bringing in bass and guitars only to have it all sound awful, no clarity or separation. Hope the replay unravels the mystery of the universe~ Thanks @Jake Kodweis and everybody! You rock my world :)

@Luiza Milenova Hi it was a paid, 3 day event that a bunch of people attended. The VIP was a special extra day that you could buy for upgrade price and it was a much smaller group and one's questions were more easily answered as opposed to when 1500 are on the free fix the mix events this school offers. I think I said that the best I could, lol

@J Es yes, I finally had a chance to sit down with it this evening and go over how the drums were dealt with and the basic levels of tracks/panning before any plugins other than slate drums.
Watching this today, are you?

Mixing guitar and vocal tricks?
Hi you guys, I really love this community and appreciate the help and was curious to know if anyone has a few solid ideas on how to get distorted guitars to sound balanced with vocals. I've tested a few plugins on the guitar aux, iZotope neutron unmask and also master the mix FUSER using a sidechain from vocal group. I read on a forum to set the unmasking between 800-5k where the energy of vox are. This seems to duck the guitar when vocals come in but if I add too much of wet/dry signal (50-70%) the guitar has that pumping effect and doesn't feel normal, with just a little, maybe 20% of the unmask processing it's subtle but not sure if this is smart? But I sure would like to hear a few thoughts from some of your guys that have more experience mixing rock/metal. Is it just as simple as cutting freqs with EQ or volume automation? Do these plugins make a difference? I'm learning and experimenting for the most part. ๐Ÿ™‚๐ŸŽธ Thx
