Down by the Salley Gardens

Hello, everyone! My name is Charlie Pitts and I live in Tolland, Connecticut. I am 63 and newly-retired. I’ve always wanted to play the guitar, mostly for myself and have had several false starts over the last couple of years. Over the last month I’ve been practicing almost daily but only have a few chords under my belt. I recently became interested in fingerstyle and how rich it sounds, and stumbled across this group. I’m currently trying to learn silent night before Christmas, and may pick up one more. My background in music - when in high school I played the trumpet. In the last decade I was part of a bagpipe band but left it three years ago. I am learning on a Zager Travel Size guitar, but also have a Yamaha FS800. At some point assuming I continue learning I’d like to get a classical guitar because I like the warm tones they give. As far as immediate help, I’m still to come up with a plan / course of action so that when I’m practicing chord changes, etc I’m not just skipping around.
