What’s your favorite format?
i got to shoot some 8x10 chrome last year, but it was such a nerve wrecking experience. I haven’t shot medium format since college, but 4x4 is my favorite. Best of both worlds, mobile with resolution! Just enough shots to make you be careful but not wanna kill yourself if you missed one!

Because I haven’t experimented with many formats. I’ll have to respond medium format and 35mm digital.
Inspirations
Introduce yourself folks! Who’s a photographer you admire and why? I’ll start: Robert and Shana Parkeharrison. Their body of work “the Architect’s Brother” is why I wear a suit in my photos. https://www.parkeharrison.com/bodies-of-work

Hi everyone! I'm Carl, and I’m a portrait and fashion photographer based in NYC. A photographer I admire is Gordon Parks. His ability to capture powerful, storytelling images—whether through portraits, fashion, or photojournalism—continues to inspire me. His work is timeless and deeply impactful, blending artistry with social consciousness.
Archiving
How do you guys back up your work? Most photographers I talk to say best practice is 3x copies, with one of them offsite (like in cloud storage). I have like 2.5 sitting on my desk 😅

Right now, I back up to a RAID 1 drive and rotate between two backup copies. I fall short when it comes to keeping a copy off-site. I really need to improve my backup method and archiving process. I was speaking with a friend about bit rot in drive storage and NAS drives, but much of it feels overwhelming.
