🎥 What Really Happens in the Video Editing Process of a Demo Reel 🎬
1️⃣ Content Curation: The first step in the editing process is curating hours of footage. The team curates all available material to pick out your best moments, focusing on clips where your energy, speaking skills, and audience engagement shine. 2️⃣ A/V Script and Storyboarding: Once the best clips are curated, the team creates a logical flow or storyboard. This is critical to ensure the reel tells a cohesive story instead of just throwing random clips together. 3️⃣ Offline Edit: From removing unnecessary pauses, distractions, or redundant segments, to stitching sequences together, the goal is to keep the video tight and impactful. Offline Edits aren't polished and can be considered as a 'rough draft'. The purpose is to show the flow and sequencing of the video and create a compelling narrative. The team then reviews this internally to make necessary adjustments to the backbone of the video before proceeding with spicing the visuals up. 4️⃣ Visual Draft: Raw footage often needs some sprucing up. The team will do some color corrections, and color grading to make sure the visuals are crisp and appealing. This enhances the overall quality and makes your reel look professional and cohesive throughout the whole output. 5️⃣ Perfecting Audio: Clear audio is essential in a demo reel. Editors work on improving sound quality, removing background noise, and balancing volume levels. They may also enhance your voice's clarity or add music to create emotional impact and mood. 6️⃣ Packaging Initial Draft: Professional demo reels often feature custom graphics to emphasize key points. Editors also integrate your branding elements like logos and colors to ensure the reel matches your personal brand. Here, the team finalizes key visual and auditory aspects like placing graphics, animations, and transitions to create a strong draft for review. 7️⃣ Final Review & Revisions: Before the reel is finalized, the team will review it with you to ensure it captures your vision. Any necessary revisions are made to perfect the video, ensuring it delivers the impact you want.
