Skool is Cancelled
Isn't that what everyone wished for when they were little?! Kidding. Unfortunately, my dearest supporters, Skool did not pick up as a heavy-engagement platform, as I'd hoped it would. In effort to focus my energy on what will best continue growing Working Wines, I've thus decided to cancel Skool. Thanks to everyone who signed up and participated, and a special thanks to those who joined our virtual tasting, previously! I'm sure Working Wines will feature other events in the future, though not necessarily through this platform. Feel free to reach out to me directly at briana@workingwines.com or through social media if you have any questions!

2023 Gavi DOCG by Rosa dell 'Olmo
First... take a look at the cartoonish bottle image that the producer has on their site. It's literally a cartoon bottle with the label pasted on top of it. Too funny. Anyway, I really liked this wine! Got it for $10 at Trader Joe's. It was the perfect mix of delicate flavors and good body. It still felt light, but had good acid, good minerality, good mouthfeel, good everything. On the nose, I got: honeydew, dragon fruit, some light lemon, green apple, jasmine, honeysuckle, limestone. On the finish: green apple and lemon.

@Angela Hall Omg! I can't believe you don't have Trader Joe's... that's such a bummer. It looks like you don't have Whole Foods either... crazy! You should definitely still try a Gavi DOCG though. I'm sure you can find one at Total Wine!
"Low Calorie" Wines...
I've been hearing a lot more about new "low-calorie" wines lately-- more of them coming to market, becoming trendy, promoting somewhat "healthier" drinking... I tried this one from Chile a few days ago and unfortunately, I wasn't too impressed. 😒 It was the Klean Pinot Grigio, and it was pretty well-reviewed at Total Wine. I was really surprised at how mouth-puckeringly tart it was-- not very balanced, in my opinion (which makes sense given it's only 8.5% alcohol...). It wasn't very complex, which is not unusual for a Pinot Grigio, but the finish tasted like straight-up apple juice, which I am personally not a fan of. I had to open a different bottle to try and drink for the night! Only drank one glass. Womp womp. I'll take the extra ~20 calories per glass and get a good white wine.

"Low Calorie" Wines...
Thanks for joining the 8/31 tasting!
Thanks to everyone who joined our virtual tasting yesterday-- we had so much fun! I'm attaching the tech sheets for each of the wines we tried here, in case you want to review them further. For anyone who didn't attend: the Riesling was surprisingly the class favorite! What kind of wines are you all interested in trying next month? Any countries you're interested? Also, feel free to share what day/time would be best for you so we can get the event scheduled. Looking forward to it!

Oh, I love the idea of trying a New Zealand wine next! They are growing in popularity and are especially known for their very crisp and grassy Sauvignon Blancs! One of my favorite go-to's that you can find at most grocery stores is the Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc. :) We probably won't do Spain next time just because the Rioja we tried was from Spain, but if not next time, we'll circle back soon!
8/31 Guided Tasting Wines
Hello! Can't wait to taste with you all this weekend. The three wines we'll be tasting are: Dr. Loosen "Dr. L" Riesling Bertrand Cote des Roses Rose, 2022 Beronia Rioja Reserva, 2018 These should be available anywhere in the US, but if you can't access any of them for any reason, feel free to get a similar wine from the same region. Contrasting the notes and flavors of each is always helpful, as well!
