I was a podcast guest
On Thursday, a podcast I gave as a guest was posted to YT. I'd love to hear how I come across to folks who don't know me (you all if you have the time), see if its something I should promote, and get ideas about how to promote it without seeming like i am promoting it!https://www.ftspod.com/episodes/the-exploring-prosperity-podcast

So excellent. Thank you very much.
Thumbnails
I was very bummed to click through to thumbnail experts and hear "I used to spend many hours editing videos and 10 minutes on thumbnails, and now I spend lots of time on thumbnails." That lipstick seems to be very important, and I am not sure I have ANY expertise or feel after watching about 1.5 hours of YT videos on it this morning about what makes good thumbnails. Any thoughts?

Yes. I have found a dark single background cover the basic one for most of my similar channels. Picture and 2-4 words.
Devon Nash Video 0 to 1
Loved the video. two ideas came from it for me: 1) Turn my essays into twitter threads - While I have done that in the past, he made a point that one brand built his/her followers on that strategy exclusively, and i have been wondering how to get more exposure for my content 2) To become more of an authority on the problems that make Americans pessimistic, I should generate content by spreading good ideas I find on podcasts. This keeps me from having to wait to get guests interviewed for me to create content about those ideas.

Great recommendation. I foresee lots of editing time! But worth it. Have been thinking about that for a while.
Live Streaming
Who's live streams? Or has done so in the past? What tools do you like? Any tips for first-timers? I'm going to be starting a regular IG live stream inviting people to watch how my releases are made, assuming my van wifi works well enough 😬. I'd love to make things feel as unique to my framing as possible.

I have live-streamed on X (1 time) and on ~20 interviews I later posted on YT for a newsletter I worked with. My experience was that live did not attract enough viewers (we were using it as a "special value" for paid subscribers to make it a biz. We got many multiples of viewers on YT for each interview (HUGE in some cases). It was very helpful for the quality of the content for us to edit out many things from the live version. When i split from the newsletter, i decided to not do live for quality control. My Twitter spaces livecast was a super home run, but that was all about the timing and the two experts I had on at that moment. I would also say that it might be disappointing to evaluate your work based on attendees for livestreaming given that we were shocked by how few people wanted it live vs how many wanted it ultimately. we had one that had ~10 live but has received about 65,000 views over two years. another that had about 10 live and 40,000 views over time. many others were like that as well. So we decided to make sure the video was edited very well to maximize the impact over time. Hope this is relevant to you, otherwise you can ignore it!!!
Hi from your fellow creator and classmate!
Hi all! New creator here! My name is India Witkin. I'm a born and raised New Yorker (yes, that is the totality of my personality - because, duh), I am obsessed with food, travel and history and I am starting a Youtube channel! I'm very new to YT, but I have a background in film, tv, video and podcasting. I work in the media industry as a producer/production coordinator and had a podcast series called "Eating America with India" from 2020-2021. The series was me exploring different immigrant diasporas around the U.S. through the lens of food. I am now LAUNCHING it as a video series called "India Eats the World". The first season is the America's and the second season will be around Asia. She's a global girlie!!! Very excited to be here and trying my best to power through video editing and scripting and strategizing but it's all difficult when I'm juggling a 9-5p. I'm looking forward to connecting with my fellow Grindstoners and getting inspired to do that damn thang! Sharing my Current / Dream state! Current state: 1) Current monthly income? 💰 Job: $4.7K Content: $0 Other: $X Total: $4.7K 2) Current online following? 🌍 YouTube: 9 subscribers Instagram: 2.5K followers TikTok: 80 followers Podcast: 10K streams overall Email: X subscribers Total: 2.6K audience size 3) Current weekly content workload? ✍️ Days worked: 1/2 day (aiming to get to 1-1.5 days this week) Hours worked: 4 hours Uploads: 1 uploads 4) Describe your typical work day: 💼 Morning: Wake up and listen to a podcast, watch a Youtube video, write, then log on to start my job at 10am, coffee and breakfast. Afternoon: More work… maybe take a break to watch a Grindstone video or do research for my show. Evening: Make dinner once I clock off at 7pm. Night: Watch something to unwind with my roommate, and then do a bit of writing / editing for my show. Watch a YT video and take notes! Desired state: 1) Dream monthly income? 💰 Job: $40K (I want to quit my FT job and take odd projects here and there)
