FLUTARIANS 101
I created 2 courses to get you started: Flutarians Introduction & Flutarians Flash Course. Unlock these by completing the "Get Started Here" Guide and the "Introduction." These will guide you through the basics of free & idiomatic improvising so you'll be improvising as soon as you complete the actions for the course! I'll be checking your work with a "Thumbs up!" so you'll know that I see & approve of your progress! These Thumbs-Ups will give you the points you need to level up to the next course! (I'm testing rn to see if THIS post can be seen by members who can't access the course yet, if I pin it to a specific course page.) Comment on this post if you're ready to get started seeing the simple ways I see & teach improvisation so you can start doing it in your studio!

Let's do it!
How To Engage Original Sound for Musicians in Zoom
Our virtual jams will be conducted over Zoom and/or Sonobus. Have you turned on the Original Sound for Musicians setting in Zoom yet? Here’s the video for how to Turn it on on a windows computer. Here’s the video for how to turn it on on a mac. Here’s the video for how to turn it on on an Android phone. Here’s the video for how to turn it on on an iPhone. Many modern devices have built-in echo cancellation software. It is important to disengage any noise cancellation in order to properly hear your flute sound. See these resources about fixing noise cancellation on your computer. Or this resource on turning of echo cancellation on iPhone. Comment with the type of device you'll be tuning in from usually. Have we connected successfully with Original Sound yet?

This one's tricky! Yes, we've connected. I remember that there's two steps: selecting it in the settings, and then engaging it in the top right near the minimize button!
ZOOM ROOM RULES
There are only a few small rules & guidelines for Flutarians class! Be Nice! 👂👂👄 - You have two ears and one mouth! Always aim to listen more than you play or speak. 👂👂 - Always listen for positives first! Listen with one ear as your “biggest fan!” Share what you love. Listen with the other ear as your “best flute teacher!” When giving critical feedback, you can frame it like, "If it were me, I might have done X differently by doing Y or Z..." ❎ You’re never required to play “beautifully!” Do that when you CAN and WANT to! But you ARE required to PLAY! (Remember, it’s called “playing” for a reason – it’s supposed to BE FUN!) ❎ You never have to apologize for not following instructions! My guidelines are given simply to train an idea that I think will be helpful to you in improvising. But DO notice: what did you do differently? Can you articulate it? Comment below saying you agree to play by the zoom room rules!

I promise to listen more than I speak! I promise to listen with the ears of my biggest fan and my best flute teacher! I won't apologize for making "mistakes" but instead do my best to observe & articulate them!

Done!!
How Skool Works: Points - Courses - Rewards
I chose to use Skool so that you could have a dedicated learning environment for Flutarians topics, free from the distractions of Facebook, where you’re rewarded for participating. When you joined, you received access to this GET STARTED GUIDE. This is the first of several courses I host here, listed in increasing complexity. There are two types of courses listed: The first courses are entirely free, but they can ONLY be unlocked by participation in the group! Levels are unlocked when you earn points by receiving a like on a post or comment. The first three levels, for example are: Level 1 - 0-5 Likes Level 2 - 5 Level 3 - 20 Level 4 - 65 Level 5 - 155 This allows me to implement a “pass/no pass grading” system that lets you know you’re making progress! I review ALL the comments, so if you make a comment, you can count on me for giving a “Thumbs Up” and one point towards your next level! You can consider my Thumbs Up as my recognition & approval that you’ve completed a step! There are a few courses available only as paid programs due to their detail & complexity. Schedule a time to talk with me to find out if they are a good fit for you! Comment below stating that you understand the Flutarians Courses 1-5 can only be unlocked through participation! One liked comment or post is worth one point! Are you ready to take action? Let's do this!

Cool, I understand that I get one point for every like on my post! Vic or Flutarians Assistant will be going through and liking all of my comments in the course - this is a show of approval and acknowledgment of my progress! It's so cool to hear that you'll be there with me as a progress! I don't like taking online courses where there's no accountability and nobody knows or cares if I finish. I see that when I finish the actions for one course (and receive the likes), the next one will unlock!
