I do track followers/members on platforms and in groups, but don't base your worth on them. It's just a metric that is easily pulled. A smaller group of followers that you have genuinely connected with is MUCH better than thousands and thousands of people you don't know. So if you have a small Follower count, but you know something about most of them you are doing great, if you don't know something about them try to work on those relationships before you worry about growing your numbers.
