Research Mentor
Hello all, Im currently doing a research project on computational psychology and am struggling to find a mentor. Can anyone give me some advice, Ive sent around 12 emails to professors with no response.

Hi, try to reach out to more professors, maybe be a bit more personalised towards some research they have actually carried out and mention it in the email and how it interests you. Give them a reason to take you on by showing some past projects relating to the field which further demonstrates your interests and capabilities. Also note that getting a mentor for your own project is a lot lot harder than working as a research/lab assistant so it will definitely take some time till you find a mentor. Cheers!

@Sathvik Surapaneni if you are going to travel to a lab obviously physical location is quite impt.. but otherwise its just up to you and based on your convenience

Senior Year STEM ECs
Hi all, What are some strong ECs one can build up through the first half of their senior year that would help significantly in T10 Uni applications. As I am in Senior year I do not have much time left so something like a 6 month research project or try to work my way up to IMO would be very unfeasible.. looking for quick and simple suggestions! Some info: I want to study Math or CS in the future, I have low programming experience so I would definitely learn that, although I have dabbled in Python and C a little bit and enjoyed it so far

research fields
Hi all, I am interested in carrying out research, not a research project however I would want to work with a professor/researcher as their research lab assistant over the winter for a month or so full time which seems more plausible. As from my previous post, you may know I am a Mathematics enthusiast however I am not at the level at which I can contribute to PhD level research. Which field closest or similar to mathematics would be more hands-on where I can actually assist the professor with their work rather something theoretical... High school subjects wise I have an interest in Maths >> Physics ~= Chem. So based on your replies I can reach out to different professors (after reviewing their work and whether their research actually excites me or not of course). Thanks a ton!

Maths Summer Programs
Hi, I am interested in applications for top Maths Summer camps in the US next summer (PROMYS, SUMaC, HCCSIM, ROSS). How do I go about building a suitable portfolio to submit as well as prepare for the selection psets, I have heard they are usually proof-based rather than computational and I have no experience in proof based maths. I have self studied basic olympiad content before however no significant Olympiad experience/awards so far as well. Any help is appreciated :). P.S. I am entering JC2 (senior year) in January 2025 (based in Singapore)
