Career-wise, my second choice was to be a band director.🎶 But I will get to live vicariously through my son soon.🙂 He is a senior music education major and will be a band director after he graduates!
Rest
Sometimes we have to slow down to speed up! A quote I heard at church today was pretty powerful so wanted to share it here with all of you! “God didn’t rest bc He was tired! He rested bc He is HOLY!” I have my own thoughts but would love to hear your interpretation of that and also how you truly feel when you rest &/or slow down!? I ask bc there have been times in my life when i felt guilty for resting especially when it was out of avoidance &/or due to resistance - rightly so - but also just in general - I have made great progress with that! 🙌 Would love to hear your thoughts & insights/experience with rest! 🙏🤍🙏

Rest

What does God say about rest? The word God uses for "rested" in Genesis 2:2 is "sabat", which means to repose or to desist from exertion. It's where we get the word Shabbat or Sabbath. In Exodus 2:11, the word "nuah" is translated "rested". It means to settle down. So rest is very Biblical. He sanctified, or set apart, the seventh day for the purpose of rest. Rest is more than just taking a nap, although that may be part of it. Rest is settling down, stopping to breathe. I have read that when God rested, there was a connotation of delight. He stopped, looked at what He had created, and delighted in it. It is important to just be still, breathe, delight in the Lord. He created our physical bodies in such a way that rest is needed to restore, regenerate, and rejuvenate. I believe our soul (mind, will, emotions) and spirit also need rest for the same reasons.

Replace Obligation with Peace...
One of the exercises I have my group clients do every week is Scripture declarations. I start by identifying what Holy Spirit is asking us to release and then what He wants to bless us with. Each exercise is planned with the particular focus of the current Hebrew Months in mind - so this month is Elul (Sept 4 - Oct 3) and we are focusing on Intimacy with the Lord as He walks with us. Here is today's Declaration, Prayer & Scripture Inspiration to replace Obligation with Peace: Declare: I am enveloped in God’s peace, unhindered by obligation, and perfectly at rest in His presence. 🕊 Prayer 🕊 Lord, I ask You to lift the burdens of obligation that weigh me down. Remove the emotional weight they’ve left behind, and fill me with Your blessings. Help me see how I can walk in the fullness of this peace, calming every disturbance and finding tranquility in Your presence. Let me experience what it feels like to live fully at peace with Your grace. In Jesus' Peaceful Name, Amen. Scripture Inspiration ~ Galatians 5:1 (TPT): At last we have freedom, for Christ has set us free! We must always cherish this truth and firmly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past. How has obligation stifled your ability to feel peaceful?
