Unassisted Front Float
Hi! I've been taking swimming lessons for some time now. I'm able to front float with the assistance of a noodle or my instructor. I want to progress to unassisted front floating. But, I'm not able to "start off". I know I'll float & won't sink & the instructor is there. But, I still stumble (like trying to save myself from falling over) everytime i try without a noodle. I don't understand why that's happening. I can float unassisted (like when the noodle is taken away while I float). Its the start-off/getting into the floating position, I'm struggling with. I've tried the relaxation & breathing technique before the lesson. What else can I try, please?

@Jeff Wood I had 2 sessions of 30mins each today (usually it's only 30mins/week). Although, I did manage to "start off" into a front float unassisted. But, I couldn't when the instructor wasn't present/looking over. I thought about this & it might be because I'm not confident about getting back on my feet without holding on to something. Can you advise on how I could practice recovery, on my own, please? We are about 5 of us in a class & the instructor can only be there for a few minutes with each student during a 30mins session. Thank you!
