Book club idea
After watching D and B's 5 Must-Read Books for JavaScript Developers in 2024 I have decided that I want to read some of these books (specifically "Extreme programming" and "Browser networking). Last year while between jobs I hosted a weekly book club for developers where we went over "Advanced React" and "Responsible JavaScript" and I got a lot of value out of discussing these books chapter by chapter with fellow industry professionals. I was thinking that having a book club meetup with members of Software Mastery/The Senior Dev Academy would be great since it's safe to say a lot of us are on the same page. We could read through the books one chapter per week and spend an hour discussing and clarifying the concepts. However, I am in Australia and 8 hours ahead of you in time so realistically the sessions would have to be anytime between 9am-1pm your time for me to be able to make them consistently. At this stage I am putting this here as an expression of interest, I would very much like to go through these books with some of you and I would like to be more involved in this community. Please let me know if you're interested here and in the coming weeks we can decide on a book and put together a time.

NodeJS project to impress
Hi, I have started learning node to get into fullstack and widen my opportunities even further in the future. What does this fantastic community think would be a good portfolio project to do which would make employers take notice of it? A simple todo app won’t cut it. Love to hear your ideas!

Hi! I once read (a while ago) that a great app to make is a bug tracker (like trello for example), and once is somehow mature, you should start tracking the bugs of the app in the app. ideally you would take inspiration from other places but you should be the one thinking about the architecture and organization of the project. if you just follow a tutorial is just not as useful. And, of course, document the project so the people that want to see it or use it (even if that is just the recruiters) have a good way to do it.
Interview fatigue
Hey, folks! I'm curious to know how you deal with what I call "interview fatigue". When I start a new recruitment process, I'm basically constructing a whole vision of my next few years and presenting that to a new face. I'm also doing that over and over again for every new company that want to talk to me. Given I've been looking for work all year, I'm only now realising just how cognitively demanding this process is. Have you experienced this? How do you deal with it?

what i did when i was looking for a job was to write the common answers down and then change them a bit depending on the company i was applying to. same for the cv. i had a master cv whith everything and then i would strip it as needed for the application. those two points helped a lot on the cognitive load of the applications and interviews. when the fatigue came i just took a rest, maybe a couple of days of not thinking about applying for a job and trying to be ok with it (because, honestly, not being able to pay your bills doesn't really let you rest that much).

Goal: start freelancing deadline: end of the year honestly i don't want to be freenlancing as much as i want to have more time for mysefl. but it seems nearly impossible to find a good paying job that is part-time, so freelancing is the only way i think. the deadline is end of the year because i just got a job in a good company where i'm learing a lot and i have a lot of freedom.
