Happy 15,000 Members!
It's amazing how we've reached 15,000 students! Quick poll: Should we make a parent group? If so, which platform?

@Vinaya A On one hand, it will be good if parents get more information about Rishab's paid courses, but on the other hand I don't want kids to be forced into science research by their parents if they are not actually interested in it. I hope that if a parent group is created, it should be more focused towards students interested in research.

@Vinaya A Yes, especially because if a student is motivated to do research they would have already told their parents about this. But you are right about having a group chat so that parents can be updated on the paid courses, like when there are meeting for the paid calls and other online meetings. I don't know, I guess it is up to Rishab to decide.
Literature Review
I am just starting my literature review 📕 into my science research project topic and am wondering when I should know to finish it and that I have done enough of the review to stop. I want to learn as much about my topic as possible, but at the same time, I don't want to put too much of my time ⏰️ into it. I want to make sure that I have thorough knowledge of my topic. However, I also have the tendency to take too much time on things ⏳️ trying to make them perfect, thereby progressing slowly overall. I want to make sure that I can finish this research in order to compete at science fair 🔬🧪, but, as of now, I am unsure how long I should take on the literature review process. Additionally, I am confused on when I start my research proposal, is it after the literature review process is done, or is it instead while I conduct the review. Last thing, but at what point should I start cold emailing professors for mentorship? 🤔 Should I finish my Lit review, or should I just read their papers and cold email them as I am doing my literature review? Let me known what you think! 😊 I am looking for guidance on this, and am hoping you guys can help out! 🤔🤔🤔

@Ethan Reshad Thanks for the advice, I am not far from finishing the lit review. I will work on my proposal as soon as it is done!
Math question
Hey everyone. Hope you're having a good day. Just today, I found out that in my school, I could take courses in the high school while being a middle school. For example, usually as a freshman, you take algebra 2 but if you do that in 8th grade, then you take precalculus in freshman year. Does that affect college apps or should I spend my time on something else like science team or mathcounts?

I am taking Algebra 2 instead of pre-calc in 9th, will that effect my college app negatively. I am doing other things like science reaearch and NHD, but I want to know whether this will be bad for my college application

I am more oriented to Biology and Computer science so if I take AP computer science principles in 9th will that show the same amount of course rigor as taking pre-calc in 9th?
Is NHD (National History Day) or Science fair better?
Hey guys, National History Day and Science Fair are both good events, but which one is better? I currently am doing both (I am in 8th grade) but just in general, I want to see from your point of view. PS. If you don't know what National History Day (NHD) is -----> National History Day (NHD) is an annual academic competition encouraging students in grades 6-12 to engage in historical research and analysis. Founded in 1974, NHD aims to inspire students to explore history, understand the past, and make connections to the present and future. Over 500,000 students participate each year by creating projects in one of five categories: documentary, exhibit, paper, performance, or website. These projects are based on a yearly theme and can be done individually or in groups. The competition progresses from local to national levels, culminating in a national contest held in College Park, Maryland. NHD helps students develop critical thinking, research, and writing skills, preparing them for college, careers, and active citizenship. It also fosters a deeper understanding of historical events and their impact on today's world. (AI generated passage)

@Chaitra A. True, as some categories do take more time than others (e.g. performance). I like the documentary category as for me it is the most rewarding!

@Chaitra A. Nice, exhibit is also good, especially for gaining better public speaking skills

@Chaitra A. Good to know, when I first started doing science research I was initially interested in Neurodegenerative diseases, but then I realized that I was interested in how the immune response and neuroinflammation were activated, and I began getting interested in Immunology!
