Problem w/ your target 🎯 audience
If your community tries to appeal to everyone, it effectively appeals to no one. True targeting is specific. Attempting to target everyone is just plain stupid because not everyone shares the same values. Your potential members will only be interested if your values align with theirs 🧐 I often hear people say, "We want to sell to everybody." However, that's unrealistic. How can you target everyone? Consider brands like 📦 Amazon, 🏀 Nike, and ☕️ Starbucks. They might appear to be for everyone, but they actually focus on specific markets. While many people shop there, these brands communicate directly to particular archetypes through their voice, style, and design 👀 You might worry about alienating some people, but if you're not willing to turn some away, how can you ensure you'll attract anyone? 🤧 Even niche markets like 🛹 skating have billion-dollar brands. For example, Supreme built its brand by targeting New York skaters 🗽 who wanted exclusive, high-fashion gear. In contrast, Santa Cruz targets a suburban style with low-priced fashion and a West Coast vibe. Understanding your target audience, knowing what they want, and figuring out how to attract them is crucial for success 👵🏻👴🏼🧍🧍♀️🧍♂️ How are you targeting potential members for your community?
