I felt so embarrassed reaching out…
…to an old colleague - I thought he would think I’m needy.
I worked with him 10 years ago when I was at another company. He was in a position i am in now.
So, to „close the loop“ (and not sound “needy”) I just wrote:
“Hi X!
following your footsteps (well, sort of 😁) I’ve now joined a real-time agency as technical director.
Let’s keep in touch
Sebastian”
And the fear kicked in.
Was that too obvious?
Will he even know who I am?
Will he even reply?”
10 minutes later!!
“Hey Sebastian
So great to hear from you!
Would you believe I just saw your name on a labor spreadsheet on Monday and thought of you ha ha ha and I believe that's why you thought of me
I'm freelancing now and also considering a few offers I'm still living in xxxxx and working abroad here's my cell xxxx-xxxxxxxxxx
Best of luck on the new job. I'll take a look at their website shortly.
