How to Write Captions (Instagram's Version)
Especially on Instagram, captions allow you to add extra value and connect with your audience deeper. While the post or Reel should hook them into consuming your post, the value is really where you can convert that viewer to a follower or a sale. Use this template to walk your audience through the transformation you provide, in a story format that's easily digestible. 🪝HOOK Your hook is the first line of text that gets the audience to read more. Use polarizing, impactful language to peak their interest. This should be no more than a short sentence, or Instagram will clip the text and it won't be readable to people scrolling 🌎 CONTEXT My community members know this as "outlining their reality". Acknowledge where your audience is right now. What are they doing? What are they doing wrong? Stating where they are now allows them to feel like this post is meant for them, and gives them context into why they even care about the value you're about to provide. 💡 VALUE Give the tips, tricks, insights, hacks, entertainment, or other value in the post. Pro tip: make the value immediately actionable to give them a quick win, OR an insight that makes them think about their current processes differently. 😍 CHANGE My community members know this as "outlining the transformation". After implementing your VALUE, where would they be now? What transformation did you help them achieve from the value you gave and the work you do. 💬 CTA Direct them to ACT! Ask them to follow, comment a word, share the post, or check out your free offers. Pro tip: Give them incentive to act. For example: "Follow for life changing content hacks!" or "Comment YES and I'll send you 150 free viral hooks!" # HASHTAG Use 1-3 hashtags to help the algorithm place you in front of the right people.
