Thought I would let you know what I am up to!
Currently working on the Reiki 2 course for our next Skool (coming soon).
I'm enjoying this immensly - I think it will be the most comprehensive Reiki 2 course you will be able to find (he says humbly).
Any way here is a sneek peek! (screenshot).
Did you know this about the Cho Ku Rei (η΄ι) symbol?
The symbol's name "Cho Ku Rei" comes from Japanese, though scholars and practitioners interpret its meaning in various ways:
- η΄ (Cho/Choku) - meaning "direct" or "straight"
- ι (Rei) - meaning "spirit" or "ghost"
- Some translate it as "Place the power of the universe here" or "God and Man coming together"
Historical Context:
- The symbol emerged in its current form through Mikao Usui's development of Reiki in early 20th century Japan
Many believe Usui was influenced by:
- Mikkyo Buddhism (esoteric Japanese Buddhism)
- Shingon Buddhist practices
- Ancient Sanskrit symbols
- Japanese kanji characters
Pre-Reiki Connections:
- Similar spiral patterns appear in:
- Buddhist mandalas
- Ancient Japanese tombs (kofun)
- Traditional Japanese art and calligraphy
The spiral design itself has deeper significance:
- Reflects the concept of 'Ki' or life force energy
- Represents the movement from infinite to finite
- Mirrors natural patterns found throughout the universe
- Shares similarities with sacred geometry found across cultures
