In order to get out of fight and flight and enter into restful state we have to create new processes within the body.
The first step is to identify where the tension is on your body. Breathe into the location by inhaling through your nose and exhale for twice as long as you inhaled. After a few rounds of this run through these questions...
- Who are you?
- What age are you?
- Why are you here?
- What do you need from me?
- What are you scared most about?
- What can I do for you?
- Am I safe in this moment?
Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.
This sets up a new opportunity to choose your response, choose wisely.
Other things to consider,
- Eat a snack
- Drink some water or a calming tea.
- Take a walk
- Take a cold shower or cold plunge
- Earthing, bare feet in the ground.
- Hug a tree or walk in nature.
- Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day.
