Copywriting Lesson From My Years In The Military
The army taught me one of the most useful copywriting principles I know.
While I was in the shooting range,
A common saying I would hear a lot is:
"Aim small, miss small”
But what does that have to do with copywriting?
👉 Write for a specific avatar, rather than a general audience. 👈
If you have a clear description of the ideal buyer,
And you also write specifically for him,
You’ll naturally attract some of the broader audience too.
It’s exactly like the shooting range.
If you aim for the bullseye, you’ll often miss,
But you’ll still be close to it.
Whereas if you just try to hit the target,
You’ll have a lot of bullets that you miss completely.
