🚀 First Community Assignment: Post an AI Conversation

Welcome, Singularity Scouts! This inaugural assignment is designed to help everyone take their first steps in interacting with AI, regardless of prior experience.

Assignment: Post a conversation with your AI

Your task is simple but powerful: Have a conversation with an AI chatbot of your choice (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, or any other accessible AI chatbot).

Steps:

Choose Your AI: Select any AI chatbot you have access to.
Start a Conversation: Begin with this prompt: "Hello! I'm new to chatting with AI. Can you explain what you are and what you're capable of doing?"
Follow-Up Questions: Based on the AI's response, ask at least three follow-up questions. These could be about its capabilities, limitations, or any topics you're curious about.
Creative Task: Ask the AI to help you with a simple creative task. For example: Write a short poem about technology Create a brief story using three random words of your choice Describe an imaginary invention that could solve a everyday problem
Reflection: After your conversation, take a moment to reflect on the experience. What surprised you? What did you learn?

CONVERSATION STARTERS

Choose one of the following conversation starters if you're feeling stuck or like your level of experience is greater than this assignment:

"Tell me a story in the style of a pirate with a deep love of collecting marbles."
"Explain to me how you work as if I was a computer science engineer."
"Walk me through the steps necessary to make money selling info products on Etsy."
"Ask me questions as if you were my personal spiritual coach, trying to help me achieve enlightenment."

Submission:

Copy Your Conversation: Copy the text of your conversation with the AI. You can shorten it or choose an excerpt.
Write a Brief Reflection: In 100 words or more, share your thoughts on the experience. Consider: Was this your first time chatting with an AI? If not, how was this experience different? What surprised you most about the interaction? Did you encounter any limitations or unexpected responses? How might you use AI chatbots in the future based on this experience?
Post Your Chat: Share both your conversation and reflection in a single comment on this post.

Engagement:

Read through other members' posts.
Comment on at least one other submission. Share your thoughts, ask questions, or note any interesting differences in AI responses.

Deadline:

Please complete this assignment within the next week. The deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 4th at 8AM (our next Coffee Hour)
