Before Purchasing a Fiction novel, I typically

Read book reviews.
Read sample pages from the book.
Read the last page.
Read the first line. If not hooked, the book stays on the shelf.
Select a book in the top 25 best selling list.
Like the Book Cover image.
Look for opening and Closing Images.
Read the first paragraph and/or the first page.
Seek out books written by my favorite authors.
