Spring 2024 Touring Costs 💰
Back in Spring 24 we completed 15 date UK tour and here are the figures. We were nervous going into this one as we know the cost at the start of the tour as it all needs to be booked in advance so we had to manage our cashflow very carefully, it's such a numbers game!! Also we didn't play any guaranteed sell out locations (anchor dates) so going into this massively in the hole was daunting but very happy with the hard work we put in and what we achieved. Crew - 8 (6 band, 1 tech, 1 support) Costs Accommodation - £1,302.99 (Caravan parks are the one, so cheap, safe to park with gear in the van and you can cook). Food - £444.04 (we cook all our own food on the road, which is far cheaper) Fuel - £728.54 Rehearsals - £445.06 (2x tech rehearsal) Equipment - £1,191.55 (our mixer broke in the first tech rehearsal) Support - £1,100 (£100 per show) Band Fees - £9,591.90 (£75 per person per show) Merch ~ £1500 Total costs = £16,304.08 Take Gig Fees = £9,583.23 Merch = £9,822.68 Total take = 19,405.91 Total profit = £3101.83 (if our mixer didn't break we would be £4,200 up). Quite a lot to unpack here, you might notice the merch cost to the merch take doesn't add up but thats because we had merch left over from our previous tour and we bought merch from running pre-order and putting on a Christmas fund raiser. We had a support on 11 shows and for 4 shows decided to have no support and do a 2 hour set to save on costs when heading up north in the UK. Any questions let me know, love digging into the numbers. Also proves you don't have to have a large social media following to make a tidy profit, all about quality of fan in my eyes.
