Recommendation: the KNOW series
If you're looking for a great place to start in theology/church history you need to check out this book series (from Justin Holcomb)
So far I've read:
- Know the Heretics
+ Used this one to start researching for a three and a half hour course on the historical heresies. Super helpful and readable.
- Know the Creeds and Councils
+ Lots of overlap here with the Heretics book, just a little less entertaining (as there's less information on the wildness of the heretics). I'd start with this one!
And I'm currently reading:
- Know the Theologians
+ This one is really sick. Combination of biographical and theological writings that I've really enjoyed so far. Covers the most important Christian theological thinkers in various different ages (ancient, medieval, reformation, & modern)
