Working Thanksgiving Weekend or Nah?
There's no right answer to this one. Take time off if you earned it or need. Work if you need to.
Personally I'm doing a hybrid. I'm bumping along HARD to finish the REinvest Legacy Playbook (it's the 2.0 of the REinvest Business P.L.A.N. binder. Lots of new content and digital add ons. We've reformatted the book to make it user friendly and we're literally printing it as a book 馃檧 which means printing deadlines, copy righting, etc.
The event is in less than 2 weeks. So we''ve gotta push. But I also want to spend time off with my family. Allison has 4 days off from work, Ben doesn't have daycare. We have a tradition of cutting down a Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving and I'm unwilling to compromise on that.
My answer?
Work weird hours. I'm on the computer from 5:30/6am - whenever Ben gets up. I get 2 hours of work in while he naps. I'm back on from 7:30/8:30 to 11. By doing this I crank out a solid 5 - 8 hours of work on a "non-work day". The cool thing is I love doing it, so "working on the holiday" doesn't feel oppressive!
I'm also talking to my team throughout the day. I'm in near constant contact with ensuring she has everything she needs from me to take the next steps.
When you have a team it's important to recognize where the bottlenecks exist and remove them (hint: you're usually the bottleneck). More on this in another post...
