This is my summary!/review of the book "How to be everything". To get info on what a multipotentialite is, please check out my previous 2 posts!
Multipotentialites tend to have unique productivity needs, such as needing flexibility and agency to move forward. A multipotentialite is most productive when they are engaged.
1.Choose your focus👀
Make a master list of all the things you want to do. Prioritise projects using the following 3 questions.
1.does it excite me?
2.will it significantly disrupt my life?
3.does my life need disruption?
✨Be open to pursuing things that spark interest and excitement
2. Finding time⌚
Remember that creativity is not a trait, but a practise. Be creative atleast once a day to ensure you maintain a healthy mental balance.
Here are 3 possible routine you can follow to make time for your hobbies and projects.
1.The fluid schedule
Work on priority projects when you have free time until you lose interest or finish it.
2.The prepared schedule
Similar to blocking where you set aside periods of time for each project.
3.Immersion schedule
Dedicate certain periods of time to complete one project (one week, a weekend, a month, etc)
3. Knowing when to quit🍂
Remember that quitting isn't failure and doing projects is more about what you take away from the projects rather than finishing it. Quit when you feel bored, unchallenged or uninspired.
Know the difference between meeting resistance and a personal end point. A personal end point is when you reach your goal. Resistance is a block - fear of judgement, loss of confidence or anxiety. It's always worth it to push past these resistances.
4. Getting yourself to do the work📚
Make sure you're in a positive state before you do the work.
Break it down into smaller steps
(eg. Use a timer to set aside time for each project)
Set up your environment to create a slippery slope to productivity - create inertia in this way
Have a small wins journal.
