Jill's Introduction into Alberta Legislature (2016)
Interview with Tiana Fech
In this very first official episode of the People Teaching People podcast, I’m joined by Jill Drader. Jill has been a mentor for me since we connected in 2014 when we worked on building a curriculum together. Jill has an incredibly kind and generous heart and is someone who has inspired me to follow my heart and those nudges. Jill Drader is a natural connector, teacher, visionary, and intuitive. She's launching her new venture - OwlSeek - where she will continue her executive coaching and leadership practice, and re-launch her retreat series in spring 2023. Her non-for-profit Struggle Is Your Success, was partnered with Trellis this year, the largest NFP in Calgary, which supports youth initiatives. Jill's past education is varied - a degree in International Development and African studies where she studied in Ghana through the University of Calgary - a journeyman status in tile setting - and a degree in counselling where she does more spiritual care and spiritual direction. Jill's past awards include being named Honorable Albertan by the Alberta Legislature, Distinguished Alumni by the University of Calgary, and Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue Magazine. Jill always operates from a heart of service - caring deeply about those who struggle and suffer with mental health or addictions, and gives her time to various Calgary agencies helping people. Listen in as we talk about: 1. Looking at our vocation. Jill asks us to question what we’re told is our calling vs. what we actually want to do. 2. Struggle is your success. How do we look at success differently? Jill shares how she challenges the ideals around success and shifting young minds and perspectives in the process. 3. Being guided through recovery and filling our own cup up. Jill talks candidly about her struggles with alcohol and drugs and how her path through recovery is what opened up her mind to new possibilities. She shares how she fills her own cup up first and what that looks like for her on a daily basis. The Heroine's Journey
We often talk about the Hero's Journey; however, how can we showcase the Heroine's Journey from the female perspective? The adversity and challenges are different; however, the journey still requires rising from the abyss and giving back. In this week's episode, I am excited to welcome Jill Drader. Jill is a renowned public speaker, award-winning entrepreneur, and professional mentor based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. With over two decades of experience in the personal development industry, Jill has become a trusted advisor and spiritual director to countless individuals and organizations seeking to transform their lives and achieve their goals. Jill is known for her dynamic and engaging speaking style, and she has delivered keynote speeches and workshops to audiences of all sizes across North America. She has also worked with various clients, including corporations, non-profits, and individuals. Jill founded OwlSeek in 2022 to bring back her retreats, workshops, digital courses, and spiritual direction work. Jill is an active member of the Calgary community and has been involved with several charitable organizations. She is co-founder of Struggle Is Your Success, a Calgary non-profit teaching youth entrepreneurial mindset skills to improve their lives. She is passionate about supporting causes related to mental health and wellness. The provincial government has recognized her contributions to these areas, Distinguished Alumni by the University of Calgary (2016), and awarded Top 40 Under 40. Jill believes in the power of connection and community and is dedicated to helping others build meaningful relationships in their personal and professional lives. Whether speaking to a room of hundreds or working one-on-one with a client, Jill’s mission is always the same: to help people live their best lives and reach their full potential. I have previously talked about the Hero's journey we must embark on and go through various stages. In this episode, I wanted to highlight Jill's journey. In this episode, Jill and I discuss her journey through life and some of the choices she made early in life, which ultimately led her to realize the changes she needed to make, especially after some frightening situations. Jill then talks about some of the entrepreneurial ventures she went on while believing in her vision. We then talk about how Jill now mentors others and gives back to the community through her work.
