Social Proof and pre selection
If being surrounded by hot women shows pre selection and makes you appear more attractive.
Let me pose a hypothetical, if a man accompanied by a less attractive woman (not mid) overweight, loud, obnoxious etc. . Does that hurt him more than going out alone? Thoughts?
