Grow Room Renovation! Before and After
Hey! Josephine here 🧑‍🌾 So it's not much of a renovation, but our Grow Room got some serious TLC today! The temperature here in UT has officially plummetted, so I had a lot of time to be inside! It's kinda like a second "Spring Cleaning", just in preparation for winter instead 😄 Rob and I have been going through all the different things we want to start growing, beyond microgreens. We've got it all planned out now (see the picture of our whiteboard below)! Spent time re-building some of our grow shelves to accommodate some bigger totes and tubs, getting things ready to start: Tomatoes 🍅 Onions 🧅 Garlic 🧄 Cucumbers~ 🥒 I'm most nervous about cucumbers, I've heard that they need a surprisingly deep amount of root space-- hoping our 12 inches should be enough! Someday we'll branch into lettuce, carrots and even strawberries!! But, one thing at a time. Check out the fun Before & After attempt-- the grow room was seriously in such shambles. 🙈 Now it's so much more open, and has a lot more possibility for recording and doing videos! We've been wanting to get the room ready to also livestream/record our Planting Day process, and Harvest Day processes, which will be fun to share with you all! Are you excited for us to start posting videos and sharing our planting/harvesting process?

Top 5 DIY Ways to Grow Indoors on a Budget (No Yard Required!)
Hey Rooted Indoors family! Josephine here 🧑‍🌾 I was thinking about the biggest hurdle we faced when we moved into our townhome with no yard. ❤️‍🩹🌱Luckily, growing fresh produce doesn’t require a sprawling yard or a fancy greenhouse. After I did a little research, I found that with a little creativity, you can start a thriving indoor or small-space garden without breaking the bank! Here are the top 5 DIY methods to get your green thumb working, even when space is limited: 🌿 Balcony Gardens: Use containers, hanging baskets, or vertical planters. Herbs, tomatoes, and strawberries all love balcony life! 🌞 Windowsill Growing: Got sunlight? Perfect! Herbs, microgreens, and leafy greens grow great on sunny sills. You can even regrow kitchen scraps! (A course coming on this one, FOR SURE) 🌸 Porch Add-Ons: No balcony? Use your porch! Add hanging planters or small shelves to maximize space for pots. Just check how much sun your porch gets. (Our neighborhood uses this one A LOT!) 🏡 Vertical Wall Gardens: Use old pallets, shelves, or even shoe organizers to grow up, not out! A fun and space-saving option for herbs or small plants. 💡 Grow Lights Anywhere: Not enough sun? No problem! Set up a DIY grow light (cheap LED bulbs work!) and create a cozy plant spot in any room. Personally, we use a combination of some shelves from Costco and LED grow lights we bought on amazon. It was a bit of $ upfront, but it's lasted us a good long time (coming up on 2 years soon!) I'll share some pictures of our grow room, as well as some options I found online. Do you have a creative space-saving solution you're already using? Share it! We'd love to see! 📸👇

Introducing Us: Microgreen Farmers! 🌱
Hello! It's nice to meet you! This is who we are 1. Name: Rob and Josephine 2. Age: 33 + 35 3. Location (country/state): USA/UT 4. Wellness Goals: I (Josephine) have always been a bit suspicious of the Western Diet, especially after my mother passed away at age 58 (heart failure). I'm obsessed with figuring out how to "Win" the health thing, and how to heal the body through food! 5. Grow Space + grow medium: 500 sq ft grow room (in our 3 bedroom townhome!) We grow in shallow 10x20 trays, growing microgreens on jute grow mats! 6. Experience: We started growing Microgreens January of 2021, with the first several months getting our feet under us. We landed our first restaurant, and quickly gained experience to grow our clientele of local families getting microgreen orders each Friday. We grow a variety of microgreens, including Pea, Sunflower, Broccoli, Radish, Mustard and Kale. 7. What are you growing that you're excited about right now!: Very interested in expanding our grow room into edible flowers, more microgreen varieties, as well as vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes, and onions!
