Hey all, I made this video a while back on how distribution works with the goal of helping authors get their books into stores. When I started out, I didn't even know where to look, and I still get that feedback from a lot of new creators. The industry has a lot of gatekeepers, but if you know who to reach out to, you'll be off to a good start.

Earlier in 2024, I had a book listed in Previews. I've attached a photo of the listing. Setting aside that Diamond completely bejanked the cover, what else do you see? Yes, you see a QR code. One that leads to a PDF of the first chapter of the book. (Or would if Diamond had created it properly.) Point being, a precedent has been set: you can now provide a link to an excerpt of your book. If folks are intrigued by the listing but still aren't sure, they can have a squint at an excerpt to make a better decision. I would suggest you provide your own QR code though - so you know it works. You're welcome.
