Hey everyone! I'm Gigi, Doc's lil sis. I'm a comms and marketing type of gal but I do have a soft spot for the creatures that Doc and many of you are keen to look after! Hats off to you because boyyyy I tell ya, we pet parents have no clue what to do, our tongues get tied and we definitely feel a little (or a lot!) guilty when something goes wrong with the fur baby!
Sooo... Last month Archie, my almost 12 year old rescue that I got about a year and half ago suddenly went scarily still. At first I didn't notice because cats can go a long time without moving, sleeping heavily. But I noticed he laid there a very long time, his smaller body ( about 8 pounds) felt heavier than normal, breathing labored and when I shook off my own sleep, his eyes were pinched shut - not in relaxing rest, but swollen-like and painful.
GULP!
I was frantic, but tried to be calm when asking the kids what they fed him or if they gave him something besides the normal food. (Kids seem to have some of the same senses as animals - they can tell when you're stressed!) After a bit of commotion in which Archie would have definitely gotten up to stretch or beg for a little snack, I returned 20 minutes later to him still in this same spot, barely able to lift his head.
What would have been your first responses to me and Archie here as holistic health pros?!
