I can say from experience that cues are such a simple thing to get rid of yet they contribute so much to relapsing for any bad habit.
Here is 1 example of a cue for each of my previous addictions:
- Porn: Certain Instagram pictures and YouTube videos
- Sugar/Junk food: Seeing advertisements about them
- Phone addiction: seeing my phone on the table when I woke up
As soon as I got rid of these cues (which barely took effort), it became a lot easier to quit.
