Every dreamer had doubters and haters and people, friends, and family telling them what they were doing was silly. Many are considered crazy, until they are right.

The more complex a system, the more failure points there are. Simplicity in a system is mastery.

Is it the belief system, or the faith in the belief system? Don Miguel Ruiz discusses in the Toltec tradition that WE are the ones who assign meaning to all symbols, languages, and ideas, and that the power of this faith comes from us, not anything outside of us. The challenge here is to release the power from symbols and empower ourselves. Easier said than done, as this is quit a bit of conditioning to undo - if we decide to agree with this notion. Another point made in the Toltec tradition is that the Truth is silent and beyond thinking and knowledge. I would agree with this idea based on my own life experience.

I do not remember exactly which podcast I heard this on, but the idea is that making 100% on a decision is easier than going 99% on it. 99% leaves room for doubt and consideration, whereas 100% is a hard-no and there is no internal mental battle to be had. For the rest of the year I am 100% no on alcohol. Easy choice for me. No consideration. It simply is not conducive to my current goals. But if I were to tell myself "I will mostly not drink this year" then there is doubt, consideration. I allow myself the leeway to do it under "certain" undefined circumstances. Being 100% on some of our choices is simply just easier.

It is not always about making the correct decisions. We generally aim upward, and naturally move forward in life. What often gets us are the things we should have said no too. For myself, impulse decisions and short-sightedness have bitten me in the ass more times than I can count. Had I had a better "no" muscle I would likely be much further ahead on a few of my goals.
