We have buried. Our families, friends, pets, paid the medical bills and the funerals.
We have broken. Our bodies, our spirits, our promises to ourselves.
We have wanted. To work less, more for our children, a place that is home.
We have lost. Jobs, houses, businesses, retirement savings, marriages, families, children.
We are embarrassed. Nothing to show for a life's work except scars on our bodies and hearts.
We are standing. Wanting to keep going, even though.
We hope. There is still time to do what we have always wanted, even though.
We dream. That it is possible, even though.
