Good morning everyone! I had someone ask...what about jobs that are advertising that they pay for IVF?
This is a great question (and good marketing for that company) BUT here's a tip I would consider researching before taking a job purely for benefits:
✔️Clarify what is meant by "coverage"? There's no standard for what is "full coverage" of fertility care. This could mean anything from full coverage of all services to only one cycle. Sometimes this could even exclude the LGBTQ+ community or anyone needing help with the cost of donor gametes (donated egg or sperm which can add significantly to costs).
✔️Ask a potential employer for the full information on their fertility benefits and a full summary of what is and is not covered if you took the position. This will ensure is it worth it to you financially.
✔️Ask yourself: Am I taking a pay cut to work for this company just for this benefit? Does that outweigh not having coverage?
✔️Last but not least, understand you will be starting a new position and fertility treatments are time consuming. Will this employer work with you to actually use this benefit and have time off?
I hope that helps! Let me know in the comments!
