Today I spoke with the founder of Upsy, a self declared AI-driven Shopping Assistant, and I wanted to share some insights with you:
E-Commerce sites do not want their shoppers to chat. They want conversion;
Chatting with converted shoppers is fine; they may want information about delivery or returns;
AI learns from shopping behaviour. This is different from what I have come to expect from Large Language Models, who have stopped learning and just infer;
Help, don't disturb: if you picture yourself in a brick and mortar store, you want to be left alone while you shop — until you don't :D Understanding this contradiction is crucial to breaking into the market.
