A rich man once asked me: "What are you trying to move away from?"
I didn't want to answer it.
I only wanted to focus on where I was heading towards, not what I was moving away from.
But I was broke and he was rich so I did what he said.
And the truth is, we're ALL trying to move away from something.
It's called the Law of Opposites.
If you're moving towards something, it means (by law) you're also moving away from something.
And if you study behavioral psychology, you learn that all animals (humans included) will always do more to get out of pain than they will to move toward pleasure.
So when I wrote out my answers, what I saw on the page in front of me scared the sh!t out of me and lit a real fire under my ass.
My answers made me realize I needed to take action, FAST.
This is what I wrote:
I'm moving away from living with my parents. I don't want to be 30 living at home.
I'm moving away from working for a boss breathing down my neck. I don't want to be reliant on a capped income paycheque.
I'm moving away from being reliant on welfare. I don't want government hand outs.
I'm moving away from being homeless. Living on the street surrounded by junkies has always been what I consider a worst case, rock bottom scenario for me.
...
Now I'm genuinely curious...
What are YOU trying to move away from?
