Monthly vs. Selling Copies [Risky]

I could use some advice from seasoned sellers. I've built a *robust* system that I sell monthly. Now, trying to sell it as lifetime download, similar to Stephen. But, I'm really nervous about giving away full-copies of the entire business model I've built for two years. They could re-sell it, re-brand it, etc. Surely, Stephen felt this at some point. -- What have you had to overcome to allow yourself to mass-sell your baby?

Then there's the upkeep. Monthly-subscriber upkeep is large, and the money is slow. -- Am I making the mistake of thinking the grass is greener? Are lifetime purchases a ton of upkeep as well with non-tech-savvy buyers?
