Want a successful Skool community? You need this.
I recently connected with a visionary consultant (and a good family friend, Vanessa) and we talked for about 4 hours about various things. She gave me some good advice for my school community...
Remember to be REAL.
You need to bring authenticity to your community.
YOU are the leader.
You must guide the community's vibe and develop it into what you want it to be, don't expect the community to develop itself.
Create a community that you want to live in.
Andrew Kirby helped me find my large gaming audience's #1 desire, which is to improve at the game (Geometry Dash) and become a top player.
At first, I thought my community "Geometry Smash" would just be a simple way to get solid income and I could automate it and not put that much energy into it because I simply don't care about Gaming.
But Vanessa helped me realize that this community won't be successful if I don't put my real energy into it.
She stressed the importance of creating a community that I want to live in.
That's the ONLY way that I can create a successful community.
At the end of the day, I am the leader of the community, I can't just automate it and be absent from it.
I have to live in it, guide it, and develop it.
In my community, I'm no longer my dumbass "KaiGuy" YouTuber character, I'm a real person.
And the only way to be real in my community is to integrate my own values into it, because I couldn't give less of a shit about gaming.
But luckily enough, after interviewing top players to help me with the course in Geometry Smash, I learned that improving in the game is a lot like improving at life.
Most of the course for Geometry Smash is literally about your mindset, and so it's very easy for me to integrate a shit ton of self improvement teachings into this community, which makes me very happy.
So instead of just focusing on gaming, I get to talk about self improvement.
I haven't launched the community yet, but I've done a tiny bit of promo and already have 37 members at the price of $9.00 / month.
This is what one of my members said:
"At the right place at the right time, I ended up stumbling across KaiGuy’s youtube short that mentioned this community. You could say spending $9 for improvement at a game is just fueling the things I need to get rid of, which is true, but I also just wanted to support him. Getting better at Geometry Dash is nowhere near a priority anymore. After seeing what the community was really about, I decided I would use it to improve myself instead. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still definitely going to be playing Geometry Dash. I’ve been playing this game for half my lifetime, and there’s no way I’m giving up on reaching my goals now.
KaiGuy has been a role model for me for a long time. He is basically living the exact life I want to live, which I thought was impossible the way things were looking for me. When I joined Geometry Smash and started reading and watching the videos, I stumbled across the section “Gaming Skills to Improve Your Life”. I think it is a very interesting way to think about life, literally creating a way to turn your life into a video game. But, then I came to the mindset section, and I genuinely felt inspired for the first time in years. KaiGuy used to be just like me. Knowing that someone I look up to genuinely struggled with similar problems made me realize I really wasn’t alone. I saw what he really wanted from the community, through his eyes, and it made me realize that I wanted the same the whole time. We want to help people. That is why he made this community in the first place. “Elevate the youth through wisdom into freedom.” -KaiGuy" - Hayden from my Skool community. There was much more in the post he wrote but this is a little section.
This made me so absurdly happy.
Not only will I fulfill the promise made, which is to help these gamers get better at the game, but I get to help them in REAL LIFE, WHILE MAKING BANK.
Inside of this community, I already have these courses:
The Pro Code - get better at the game
The Purpose Protocol - find your purpose
Gaming Skills to Improve Your Life - use gaming skills IRL
And I'm working on "The YouTuber Protocol" which will be a full guide to becoming a successful YouTuber.
At first I get to integrate self improvement into gaming because I don't really care about gaming, but then I get to teach what I'm actually passionate about, which is YouTube.
So the big takeaway and why I'm sharing this, is that if you want to make your own paid community, or even free community, remember to remain authentic to yourself.
Be the person to BRING THE REALNESS.
People will join for your offer, but will stay for the authenticity, and community.
I literally joined Adonis School for Hamza's courses.
But I stayed for the brotherhood.
You can't make a thriving community about something you don't care about.
It was a bit complicated for me to figure out- I can't focus on gaming because I don't care about it... BUT I can intertwine it with self improvement, which is something I love and have studied for years.
Because of this, I can be real. I can develop a community that I want to live in.
Quick summary:
  • Be real & authentic
  • Develop a community that you want to live in.
  • Interject your own values
  • Focus on staying true to yourself
