UI/UX Comment Reply Voice of User Feedback

I started to comment on a reply then changed my mind because I have more importanter things to do so I delete my text in my reply...

Then tried to click outside the comment box and it gives me the message in the screen shot attached.

A dev tech recommendation would be to check the content in the reply (or lack thereof) before alerting user about proceeding AND IF and only if there are literally zero characters in the reply then just let the user close the reply window and not alert them.
